Ion make a series of strategic land acquisitions

Ion have acquired three strategic sites in Chester, Birkenhead and Flintshire totalling 17-acres.

The Chester and Birkenhead sites have prominent roadside locations at Parkgate Road and Tunnel road with the latter being the 3-acre site of the Birkenhead Town railway station which closed in the late 1950’s.

The pocket of land that sits to the north of the Rock Retail Park and Waterloo Place is in a strategic position for the regeneration of Birkenhead Town Centre.

Steve Parry, our managing director of Ion, said: “The Wirral, and Birkenhead in particular, is a key development area for us. We believe that the time is now right to plan the future resurgence of this area. With vision and resources, there is huge potential to move the town forward and for it to renew its position as the commercial heart of the Wirral. The Chester and Flintshire sites offer longer term potential across a broad range of uses”
