Plans for Hind Street Urban Village received the prestigious Future Ambition Award at last night’s Insider Liverpool City Region Property Awards 2025.
The development, led by ION in partnership with Wirral Council, with the support of funding from Homes England and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, was praised by judges for the transformational impact it will have on local communities in Birkenhead and the wider city region.
The event, held at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool and compered by Stephen Bailey, brought together placemakers, investors and property professionals from across the city region to celebrate the landmark deals and developments from the past year, as well as the individuals and companies that have made them happen.
Work is expected to begin on the development in the coming months and will see the derelict land around the former gas works turned into a new community with 1,600 homes, a new park, improved transport links, commercial space and leisure facilities, as well as the eventual removal of adjacent flyovers to give the new development better links to the town centre.
